My 2 Rubrics

If you haven’t noticed, I often use 2 different types of rubrics.  One is a student project sheet that serves double duty and the other is just a classic rubric.

WHY?

Student Project Sheet

  • Holds students accountable and lets them know what they need to complete.
  • Usually grades based on just completion so it’s a fairly easy grade.

Classic Rubric

  • Grades more on the quality of the work

WHEN TO USE WHICH?

In most cases, I use both and just have each project count as two grades or I average the two grades together as one.

I use the student project sheet alone specifically for when you want the students to complete a project or activity in which there is basically no room for error.

I hardly ever use the classic rubric alone because the project sheet serves more than one purpose.

Check out the two examples below.  Which do you prefer?
